Boys Will be Boys

Jake and Drew played Nerf guns off and on throughout the day today.

Sometimes this was the target~

but most of the time it seemed like it was me~ they informed me I was fair game since I was taking their pictures... :)

Even Bella got in on the action~

Show Us Where You Live- Kids Rooms

Long gone are the days of cute, perfect nurseries... We now have real, lived in tween and teenager rooms... need I say more?? :)

I will start with Drew's room. The view into Drew's room from his door~

His dresser with some of his many Lego creations~

Drew's mini bat collection~

Here is a picture of his desk. Drew really, really wanted this desk for Christmas back in kindergarten.

And his huge, huge stuffed animal dog, Darby lives under his desk. (What were we thinking when we bought this?? :)

Jake's Room:

This hockey flag hangs in Jake's door~

This is the view into his room from the door~

Jake's room is pretty small, so years ago we decided to buy a loft bed for his room- it has given him so much more floor space and has worked really well.

His chair that he likes to sit in if he is watching tv.

Some of his collections~

Whew- that was a lot! Since I am a day late getting this posted, I think I am going to update later with Ty's room.

Cloud 9

Drew was on cloud 9 today!

First, he got to go on a field trip to go see a Twins game. The 5th graders at his school that were 'school patrol' this year got to go on a special field trip today as a thank you for all their hard work.

And then, he finally got to play a little bit in his baseball game tonight. He was up to bat twice and got walked both times and played outfield for 2 innings (notice he is still wearing his brace)~ but he was so incredibly happy just to be playing. (This is the first game he has played since his injury on spring break.)

Memory Lane

Wednesday's Walk Down Memory Lane

Come for a walk with me down Memory Lane!
And if you have a "Memory Lane" post, head on over to Scottsville to join in on the fun!

I have been busy organizing and scanning old photos (from the days before digital..:) and I came upon these two 'old time photos'. Both of these were taken on (different) trips to Wyoming to visit my aunt & uncle and two cousins. I remember it was so fun to dress up in those costumes and so hard to look serious and not burst out laughing!

This first picture is of me, my mom, and my sister. I think this was the summer of 1979, and I would have been 10 years old and my sister 8.

And this picture is of me (on the left) and my best friend in high school, Jenny. This was the summer of 1985, right before our senior year.

Too funny!! Makes me want to go do another one of these 'old time photos'!!! :)

A Boy and His Dog

A boy and his dog make a glorious pair:
No better friendship is found anywhere,
For they talk and they walk and they run and they play,

And they have their deep secrets for many a day;
And that boy has a comrade who thinks and who feels,
Who walks down the road with a dog at his heels.

He may go where he will and his dog will be there,
May revel in mud and his dog will not care;
Faithful he'll stay for the slightest command

And bark with delight at the touch of his hand;
Oh, he owns a treasure which nobody steals,
Who walks down the road with a dog at his heels.

No other can lure him away from his side;
He's proof against riches and station and pride;
Fine dress does not charm him, and flattery's breath

Is lost on the dog, for he's faithful to death;
He sees the great soul which the body conceals--
Oh, it's great to be young with a dog at your heels!

Happy Memorial Day

Greater love has no one than this,
that one lay down his life for his friends.

A Little of This and That

We had a nice relaxing day today~ something I think we all needed! We all got to do a little bit of what we each wanted to do.

Tyler went to go see his cousin Max, who just got home from college. They are spending the day/night together just hanging out.

Jake hung out with friends, went golfing, and is having a friend sleep over.

Drew went on some errands with me, and we stopped at Target and he got a subscription for his beloved computer game (that he has not played since February). He went swimming at a friends house. And did a little swinging in our backyard.

Pete got to get the smoker out for the first time this season! He spent the day tending to the smoker and making some delicious pork that we were all so anticipating~

Which resulted in our families favorite: 'pulled pork sandwiches'~

And I finally got my garden planted!!

And now off to a bonfire!

Cousins

Last night we were blessed to have my sister's kids over to watch for a while because my sister and her husband had a groom's dinner to attend. It was fun to have them over and spend a little one on one time with them. And the cousin's always like seeing each other.

Tyler was heading out for dinner and a movie- but took some time before he left to teach his littlest cousin, Mary, how to play pinball. So cute~

Drew, Pete and cousins Sophia and Thomas played a competiive game of Risk~

And Miss Mary trying on some shoes she found in my closet. She was in my closet for about 5 seconds and came out with these old shoes of mine- which I thought was so funny because I didn't even know I still had these shoes! :) They did entertain her for quite a while though~

Cousin Thomas tipping backwards in the video rocker while we were watching a movie~

We had a fun night with the cousins!

Show Us Where You Live

Kelly over at Kelly's Korner is hosting a Home Tour featuring a different room in our house each week. This week we are touring Dining Rooms.

Welcome to my dining room~

We really don't use our dining room that much- but I am glad we have it for those special occasions. I would love to start using it more now that the boys are older- but it still seems easier to eat at the kitchen table. I love having the hutch to keep special dishes in~

Our dining room set was given to us many years ago by my parents when they had moved. Here is a view from the butler door in the kitchen~

(Don't mind the paint color swatches on the wall in the living room~ I am still deciding on just the right paint color:)

Thanks for visiting.
