This cruise was no exception and totally lived up to my expectations. (The only thing that would have made this vacation absolutely perfect would have been if Tyler would have been able to join us. His spring break from college was 2 weeks earlier.)
We took a Southern Caribbean cruise and visitied some amazing places: San Juan, St. Thomas, St. John's, Dominica, Grenada, Bonaire, and Aruba!
amazing, breathtaking, beautiful
This cruise we sailed out of San Juan, Puerto Rico. We flew out on Saturday (March 26th), a day early, which gave us time to explore the beautiful city, specifically Old San Juan.
We stayed at the Sheraton Old San Juan Hotel which was a nice hotel in a beautiful location and is walking distance to some amazing historical sites.
Sunday morning we started out day out with a wonderful brunch buffet in the Palio restaurant in our hotel.
We sat out on the terrace and enjoyed the views and the warm sunshine. This was a perfect way to start our vacation!!!
After brunch we left the hotel to go explore the Old San Juan area.
I am so glad that we took the time to do this as it was such a beautiful area with rich history. This was maybe my all time favorite walk ever.
View of the "Fountain Raices". This was a beautiful sculpture honoring San Juan's roots.
The city wall "La Mualla" was built from 1539-1782. It's main purpose was to defend the city against enemy attacks.
We walked around a corner and saw people, lots and lots of people flying kites. There were hundreds of kites flying in the sky which made for an amazing view. {These pictures do not even begin to capture what we saw.}
And then we headed to "El Morro" which is Puerto Rico's best known fortress and was designed to guard the entrance to San Juan bay. Construction on this was started in 1539 and took 250 years to finish.
Taking a break and sipping my first margarita of the week. :)
The quaint little streets of Old San Juan.
I felt like we could have spent another whole day walking around and taking pictures, there was just so much to see! But we needed to board the cruise ship- and the boys were very anxious to do that!!
This picture on the ship at the Muster Station makes me laugh- Jake totally does not look like he is enjoying this! :)
Bon Voyage!
