Bonaire

Thursday, March 31st was our day on the island of Bonaire. The ship did not get to port that day until noon, which gave the boys time to sleep in, allowed me to get some laundry done, and Pete and I a chance to get a cappuccino at the International Cafe down in the Atrium.

Later in the morning Pete and Drew headed up to the front of the ship to get some pictures.

This picture makes me laugh! Look at the wind- Drew looks like he might blow right off the ship!

The first thing we noticed about Bonaire was how different the vegetation was. It was much farther south and was dryer with cactus' instead of the lush green we have seen at the other islands.

This was a beautiful island!

Our shore excursion on Bonaire was the 'Goto Lake Biking Adventure.'

We boarded a van for a short ride to the start of where we would begin our biking tour.

Our final stop was here at a Cadushy bar that we were going to get to sample the liqueur. But it was closed.
Ha. We loaded our bikes and helmets onto the trailer and got back on the van.

Our tour guides were so laid back and so funny and our trip was quite an adventure. At one point the van that was trailing us somehow lost us. They had lost all the water out of the water cooler that was on the trailer at one point during the trip (and it was very hot out) & had to send one of the guides back to get some drinking water. And then... they somehow lost a strap that secured the bikes to the trailer. Ha!! So one of the guides (named Darwin) rode the long ride back on the trailer holding the bikes on! And we were going down a highway!!

And then one of our tour guides was able to get a bottle of the Cadushy (delivered to our van). Ha!

Our guides were a riot!

Trying a sample of Cadushy. This is a very strong lime liqueur made from a cactus.

After the biking adventure, we stopped at a few shops on our way back to the ship.
