We drove to St. Louis Park and parked the car, unloaded the bikes and took off on the 'Cedar Lake Trail'. This trail is known as a bicycle freeway because if its three paved lanes: separate one way lanes for bikes and another lane for pedestrians.
We started the ride going through a prairie area and headed towards downtown Minneapolis.
We went right under Target Field (MN Twins ballpark). This part of the trail just officially opened in June.
We continued on to the Mississippi River.
And saw some great Minneapolis sights.
We went over the river to St. Anthony Main.
Here we grabbed some lunch on the patio at Vic's enjoying the view of the river.
After lunch, we walked over to Water Power Park.
We went to look at the St.Anthony Falls area.
The power of the falls was simply breathtaking.
A view of the Stone Arch Bridge.
And some more great views of the City of Minneapolis.
On our way back- over the Stone Arch Bridge.
A stop on the Riverfront.
Back under the Twins ballpark.
Minnesota is blessed with so many biking trails and after having such a fun day, I can't wait to go and explore some new areas.
{We biked about 11 miles and burned about 580 calories...not too bad for a day of fun!}
