I am writing this post just because I absolutely love this sunset picture! Last evening the weather was absolutely gorgeous and we wanted to take advantage of these fleeting days of summer. So Pete and I went to Minneapolis and walked around Lake Calhoun. We finished the evening at Tin Fish with some fish tacos and cocktails enjoying the beautiful views over the lake!

State Fair
Our yearly visit to the State Fair was just Pete and I this year on a hot and humid opening day. Ty and Drew are each going with their girlfriends next week and Jake is away at school. We went later in the afternoon to take in some of the sights and our favorite foods before heading to the Grand Stand to see Toby Keith.
Two of my favorite things: the State Fair and live music outside equals an awesome evening!

college move-in
The temperature is still very warm outside, but it feels like Fall is in the air because it is college move in time. We packed up the car, fitting in as much as we could and we were off for the 10 hour car ride.
Jake taking his dog for one last walk before heading back to school.
Our flag was flying.
Jake was so happy to be back on campus!!!
We had lunch at Legends of Notre Dame, a sports bar on campus.
This view never gets old.
We moved everything up to Jake's dorm room pretty quickly. He is in a quad this year and has 3 connecting rooms shared by him and three roommates.
I am looking forward in seeing this once they get everything set up.
It never gets any easier saying 'good-bye'.

a week at the cabin
We enjoyed the annual week at the cabin with my Mom and Dad and my sister and her family. This year marks the 9th year that we have been coming to this resort with family and while most years I take a ton of photos, this year the camera hardly came out. We had a great week with equal amounts of activity and relaxation.
Savoring the beautiful sunsets.
A couple of golf outings.
And pontoon time.
Sitting back and putting our feet up.
Fishing.
A trip to "Dewey's" for the guys. :)
And more sunsets.

{weekend lens}
Along with packing for our annual cabin trip, we managed to pack in a lot of fun things this weekend.
We enjoyed a dinner at Hola Arepa in Minneapolis. Hola started out as a food truck and just recently opened their first restaurant. I had heard a lot of good things about this place and I am so glad that we tried it. Great food and great atmosphere.

We shared two small plates: the 'arepitas' which were fried arepa stuffed with jalepeno and goat cheese and the 'vigoron' which was roasted pork, yuca, cabbage slaw and pico de gallo. Both were so good.
We visited Minnehaha Falls on a beautiful summer night.
Shared some fish tacos at Sea Salt.
The line to order at Sea Salt always amazes me.
We had a mischievous dog on our hands.
Pete's new grill was delivered which he promptly built and got set up on our deck.
We were back in Minneapolis to get some donuts at Bogart's.
We grabbed some doughnuts and coffee to go and went over to the Rose Garden at Lake Harriet for a doughnut picnic. I think this may be my favorite kind of picnic. :)
Our view in the Rose Garden which is always one of my favorite spots to visit and then we did a quick walk around Lake of the Isles to work off the doughnut. :)
Then we drove over to Powderhorn Lake to catch a glimpse of Minne the Lake Creature which was on my summer bucket list.
Busy making trays of cinnamon rolls to bring to the cabin.
Trying out the new grill with some grilled pizzas.
It was a good weekend!
